DESCRIPTION:

Our school is on the west part of Turkey in a small city in Ayd?n. Ayd?n is almost one hour away from Izmir which is the third biggest city in Turkey. There are 53 students studying, 14 staff working in our school. With the thought that the best method is "learning through experience", we apply an educational method named "Nature Based Learning Concept”. The students aren't confined between four walls and everywhere become classrooms. Mathematics, painting and music aren't restrained in classrooms. Through this model, students become active participants of the learning process. English and German are taught as the second languages in our school. We have ice-skating rink, swimming pool, sports hall and ecology classes.

The aims of becoming the member of a Comenius Project is to develop new learning techniques and methods and improve the academic infrastructure by increasing the quality of education and besides to get in touch with each others' nature, culture, language and way of living. The other important aim of us is to contribute to the development of cross cultural and intercultural dialogue between the young people from different cultures, religions, languages and world views. Furthermore, the program will help students become skilled and confident when they encounter the global world. This will make living together in a more harmonious experience.

Religion exerts a profound influence on all societies and many of the world's peoples. Throughout the history, it has proven to be the primary force for social progress, motivating individuals to develop spiritual qualities, and empowering them to sacrifice for their fellow human-beings and to contribute to the betterment of their communities.

Those universal spiritual principles which lie at the heart of religion -- tolerance, compassion, love, justice, humility, sacrifice, trustworthiness, dedication to the well-being of others, and unity -- are the foundations of progressive civilization. With this project our students will enable to enrich their environment and have further understanding and empathy with their friends and the other people around them. Having the knowledge of different religions will also help our students’ development who have concluded that students do indeed develop holistically as well as intellectually. So we are all very excited about being in this project. And all my colleagues in the school are looking forward to cooperating with us with us during project period.
