DESCRIPTION:

Néstor Almendros School is a mixed 12-18 comprehensive school . We also have adult education and Professional Studies in Cinema and TV Production and Picture. Our school has 1,500 student on roll. The school is in Tomares, a small town very close to the city of Sevilla. The town´s population has increased very much during the last 20 years, as many people working in Sevilla have come to live in this town, due to the high prices of housing in the city. Regarding compulsory education, the catchment area the school serves is just the town´s students, although any other students can apply if there are vacancies.

The school is involved in a bilingual programme and has a special focus on IT. The population in our town is rather homogeneous regarding cultural origin, and for this reason we encourage any opportunities to visit other countries and to host students from different cultural backgrounds. This is the main reason why we wish to participate in this Comenius Project, to enable our students to enrich their lives through the contact with other cultures from our partner schools, and therefore develop their understanding with other communities with which otherwise they would rarely have an opportunity to interact.
